Set in the late 1500s, this is a historical-fantasy adventure following Irijah, a devout mercenary raised by the Sha'Mar Brotherhood to protect his people from Ottoman corruption across the Holy Land. When his missions keep getting mysteriously sabotaged by a trio of masked, cloaked vigilantes — the Galway Selkies — Irijah ends up joining forces with them instead of hunting them down.
Together, Irijah and the Selkies (Tarya, Lynet, and the ferociously strong Breanna) travel across the Ottoman Empire and beyond, uncovering a hidden alliance between the Sultan and a mysterious, magic-wielding foreign Queen bent on conquest. Along the way, there's swordplay, sabotage, infiltration missions, and battles against increasingly strange enemies — including engineered super-soldiers built from dark magic.
It blends real 16th-century history and geography with fantasy elements — hidden magic, masked heroes, monstrous constructs — and mixes found-family banter with genuine stakes around loyalty, faith, and buried family secrets that start catching up with the characters by the end.
Good pick if you like historical adventure with a fantasy edge, ensemble hero teams, and a slow-building conspiracy plot that clearly sets up a larger series.
